Houston-based Harris Health System named Maureen Padilla to the full-time role of senior vice president and chief nurse executive, effective June 14.
Here are five things to know about Dr. Padilla.
1. Prior to her new role, Dr. Padilla served as senior vice president of nursing for Harris Health and CNO of the system's Ben Taub Hospital in Houston.
2. One of Dr. Padilla's major goals in her new role is to help Harris Health achieve nurse Magnet Recognition Program status, one of the highest nursing recognitions for hospitals in the country. Additionally, Dr. Padilla and her nursing leadership team would like to standardize high nursing practice benchmarks across the 46-facility system.
3. Dr. Padilla joined Harris Health in 2011, serving as administrative director of Ben Taub's Women and Infants Services.
4. Dr. Padilla earned bachelor's and a master's degrees in nurse midwifery from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston and a doctorate degree in nursing executive leadership from Texas Tech University in Lubbock.
5. Jan Keller-Unger, the current associate CNO at Ben Taub, will take over the interim CNO role until the position is permanently filled.
