Guthrie, a hospital system based in Sayre, Pa., has appointed Bert Robles as its new executive vice president and CIO.
"Bert joins us with extensive experience of using smarter, more innovative technology solutions to manage the health of a whole population. We are excited by the possibilities of what this will mean for Guthrie's patients and employees." Joseph Scopelliti, MD, CEO of Guthrie, said in a statement. "We live in a world where the patient outcomes are increasingly driven by data and information. This a good thing in health care — it means that we can better manage and share our patients health records to ensure that we are providing them with targeted, affordable care that helps keep them healthier for longer."
Mr. Robles has more than 30 years of experience in management and information technology, both in business and healthcare settings. He most recently served as senior vice president and corporate CIO for the New York City Health and Hospital Corp. Mr. Robles also previously held the CIO position of the State University of New York Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, N.Y.
Guthrie's system currently serves patients in an 11-county area and includes four hospitals, more than 280 physicians and more than 170 midlevel practitioners in 23 communities.
