Covington County Hospital in Collins, Miss., and Magee (Miss.) General Hospital entered into an agreement to share their top leader, according to WDAM 7, a dual NBC/ABC-affiliate TV station.
Four things to know:
1. Per the agreement that went into effect in April, Gregg Gibbes will serve as administrator and CEO for both hospitals.
2. Mr. Gibbes has served as CEO of Covington County Hospital since 2016, before which he was the hospital's COO, according to the City of Collins website.
3. In August 2018, Magee General Hospital filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy to reorganize its debt.
4. The new agreement to share leadership aims to benefit both hospitals. Mr. Gibbes told WDAM 7 that they are using a new term to describe the partnership: "'coopetition,' where we can compete in certain aspects and we can cooperate in other aspects."
