Two health system veterans will take the helms of several Bon Secours Richmond (Va.) Health System hospitals, according to a Richmond Times-Dispatch report.
Here are seven things to know about the leaders.
Mark M. Gordon, CEO of St. Francis Medical Center in Midlothian, Va., has been named CEO of three Bon Secours hospitals: Memorial Regional Medical Center in Mechanicsville, Va., Richmond (Va.) Community Hospital and Rappahannock General Hospital in Kilmarnock, Va.
1. Mr. Gordon's appointment is effective Oct. 1.
2. He replaces Michael Robinson, who is retiring Oct. 31.
3. Mr. Gordon joined the local Bon Secours operations in 2008, coming to the Richmond area from Bon Secours' Ashland, Ky.-based Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital.
4. With Mr. Gordon's promotion, a search is underway for a permanent CEO for St. Francis Medical Center, according to the report. In the meantime, that hospital will be co-led by John McCurley, MD, CMO at St. Francis, and Kevin Sheppard, vice president of ambulatory services and ambulatory care. Mr. Sheppard also becomes interim vice president for operations while Dr. McCurley continues as CMO.
Francine Barr, vice president and COO of St. Mary's Hospital in Richmond, has been promoted to CEO of St. Mary's Hospital, also effective Oct. 1.
5. Ms. Barr replaces Toni R. Ardabell, who began her tenure as CEO of Bon Secours Richmond Health System, part of nonprofit Marriottsville, Md.-based Bon Secours Health System, Jan. 1 while staying CEO of St. Mary's Hospital.
6. Ms. Barr came to Bon Secours in 1993 as administrative director of critical care nursing at St. Mary’s Hospital.
7. Prior to joining to Bon Secours, she held critical care and intensive care unit nursing positions at HCA Virginia's Henrico Doctors' Hospital in Richmond. In 2001, she became vice president, CNO of St. Mary’s Hospital, and in 2012, she took on the role of vice president of the senior services line for Richmond-based Bon Secours Virginia, part of Bon Secours Health System. In 2013 she was promoted to director of patient- and family-centered care for Bon Secours Health System.
