19 latest hospital, health system executive moves

The following hospital and health system executive moves were announced or made in the last week. They are listed below, beginning with the most recent.

1. Henry Veenstra, CEO of Zeeland (Mich.) Community Hospital, will retire Sept. 30 after 44 years at the hospital, 41 of which he spent serving as CEO.

2. Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center in Hershey, Pa., named Stephen Massini, former chief administrative officer of Danville, Pa.-based Geisinger Health System, as CFO, effective April 20.

3. Englewood, Colo.-based Centura Health announced the appointment of Morre Dean as president of South Denver Group and CEO of Porter Adventist Hospital in Denver, effective March 30.

4. Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center in Hartsville, S.C., announced the appointment of Sue Shugart as COO.

5. Sandra Bruce, president and CEO of Chicago-based Presence Health, announced she will retire at the end of the year.

6. Greg Burns, president and CEO of Cameron Memorial Community Hospital in Angola, Ind., has resigned.

7. HackensackUMC at Pascack Valley in Westwood, N.J., named Emily Holliman CEO.

8. Columbus-based OhioHealth named David P. Miller vice president of the north region for OhioHealth's Physician Enterprise.

9. The Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute in Detroit appointed Brian Gamble as its new executive vice president and CFO.

10. Denver-based Paladina Health named Jennifer Bajaj, MD, CMO.

11. Marshall, Mo.-based Fitzgibbon Hospital named Darin L. Haug, DO, to succeed current president and CEO Ron Ott.

12. John T. Pellicone, MD, was appointed CMO of HHC Metropolitan Hospital Center, part of the New York City Health and Hospitals Corp.

13. Jack Casey, administrator of Shodair Children's Hospital in Helena, Mont., will retire this year after nearly 50 years in healthcare.

14. Minneapolis-based Universal Hospital Services announced the appointment of Thomas J. Leonard as CEO and a member of its board of directors, effective April 13.

15. Omaha-based Nebraska Medicine named Rosanna Morris, RN, interim CEO of the system.

16. University of Cincinnati Health appointed Myles Pensak, MD, to the newly created chief of physician services position. He will also maintain his role as president of UC Physicians, the 800-physician group of the UC College of Medicine, which he has led since 2003.

17. Mark Harrison was named CFO of UC San Diego Health Sciences, which encompasses the UC San Diego School of Medicine, the Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences and UC San Diego Health System.

18. Hocking Valley Community Hospital in Logan, Ohio, named Julie Stuck CEO.

19. Houston-based Lyndon B. Johnson General Hospital, part of Houston-based Harris Health System, named Derek Curtis, DNP, RN, CNO. Dr. Curtis' new role began March 9.
