17 latest hospital, health system executive moves

The following hospital and health system executive moves were reported by Becker's Hospital Review in the last week. They are listed below, beginning with the most recent.

1. George Washington University Hospital in Washington, D.C., named Kimberly Russo CEO, effective June 3.

2. Three executives at Columbus (Ga.) Regional Health are leaving their positions to accept promotions with other organizations. L.M. "Tripp" Layfield III, senior vice president and legal counsel; Meredith Bass, director of corporate finance; and Stan Hickson, executive vice president and president of Northside Medical Center in Columbus, submitted resignations.

3. LRGHealthcare in Laconia, N.H., named Kevin W. Donovan president and CEO.

4. Michael Uhl, BSN, RN, joined Atrium Medical Center in Middletown, Ohio, as COO.

5. Jo Ann Birdzell, BSN, RN, CEO of St. Catherine Hospital in East Chicago, Ind., will retire, effective July 4.

6. Dearborn County Hospital in Lawrenceburg, Ind., picked Michael W. Schwebler as the organization's next president and CEO. 

7. Buffalo, N.Y.-based Kaleida Health made multiple leadership changes. Cheryl Klass, BSN, RN, was named executive vice president and chief nursing executive for Kaleida Health. Chris Lane was appointed president of Buffalo General Medical Center/Gates Vascular Institute. Donald Boyd was promoted to executive vice president for business development and affiliations. Cletis Earle will serve as vice president and CIO. Rebecca Haslinger was named vice president of finance.

8. Ontario, Calif.-based Prime Healthcare Services appointed Robert Iannaccone as the new CEO of Saint Michael's Medical Center in Newark, N.J.

9. Vincent Tammaro was appointed executive vice president and CFO of Yale New Haven (Conn.) Health System, and CFO of Yale New Haven Hospital.

10. Mark Nussbaum was named COO of Cleveland Clinic Marymount Hospital in Garfield Heights, Ohio.

11. Desert Springs Hospital Medical Center in Las Vegas named Jeremy Bradshaw CEO.

12. Jessica Rivas, RN, was named vice president and CNO of Memorial Hermann Cypress (Texas). The campus currently features a convenient care center, and an 80-bed acute care hospital is scheduled to open there in spring 2017.

13. Perry Memorial Hospital in Princeton, Ill., named Annette Schnabel, DPT, president and CEO.

14. Knoxville, Tenn.-based Covenant Health made several leadership appointments following the former CEO's transition to CEO emeritus. Jim VanderSteeg is the new president and CEO of Covenant Health. Mike Belbeck has been named executive vice president of operations. Luke Johnson has been named an executive vice president. Jeremy Biggs succeeds Mr. Belbeck as president and chief administrative officer of Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge, Tenn. David Bunch has been named president and chief administrative officer at Cumberland Medical Center in Crossville, Tenn.

15. LifePoint Health appointed three seasoned leaders to key roles at the LifePoint Health Support Center in Brentwood, Tenn. Jason "Jay" Gunter was named vice president of finance for the company's physician services department. Tracie Stratton, MSN, RN, was named vice president of nursing and clinical operations for LifePoint's Western Group of hospitals. Russell Palk was named director of government relations.

16. Michael Pracheil joined Gothenburg (Neb.) Memorial Hospital as CFO.

17. Lawrence (Kan.) Memorial Hospital named Russell W. Johnson president and CEO.
