12 health systems changing up their C-suites

Several health systems have announced changes to their leadership ranks in recent months.

The following changes were reported by Becker's since April 27 and are summarized below, with links to more comprehensive coverage of the changes. 

Note: This list is not exhaustive. 

1. Los Angeles-based Cedars-Sinai announced the following executive promotions:

  • Heitham Hassoun, MD, was named chief executive of Cedars-Sinai International.
  • James Laur was named chief executive of intellectual property and health ventures.
  • Stella Chen was named associate CFO.

2. Winston-Salem, N.C.-based Novant Health appointed the following leaders to new C-suite roles:

  • Kim Henderson was selected as chief administrative officer.
  • John Gizdic was selected as COO.
  • Onyeka Nchege was promoted to executive vice president and chief digital and information officer.

3. Vancouver, Wash.-based PeaceHealth appointed the following chief hospital executives to its leadership ranks:

  • Cherelle Montanye was named chief hospital executive at PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center in Vancouver.
  • Kendall Sawa will return to PeaceHealth as chief hospital executive of PeaceHealth St. John Medical Center in Longview, Wash.

4. Nashville, Tenn.-based Ardent Health appointed the following leaders:

  • Ethan Chernin was named president of Ardent's health services unit.
  • Jason Ehrlinspiel was named chief compliance officer.

5. Peoria, Ill.-based OSF HealthCare appointed the following new leaders:

  • Chris Curry accepted the position of president for OSF HealthCare Transitional Care Hospital in Peoria.
  • James McGee, MD, was appointed founding director of OSF HealthCare Cancer Institute.
  • Tim Vega, MD, was named system chief population health officer.
  • Lezley Anderson, RN, was appointed system vice president of ethics.

6. Cleveland Clinic appointed the following new leaders for its Northeast Ohio Market and Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi:

  • Donald Malone Jr., MD, president of Cleveland Clinic's Northeast Ohio market, was selected as a senior adviser for capital, space and strategy.
  • Jorge Guzman, MD, was selected as the new president of Cleveland Clinic's Northeast Ohio market.
  • Georges-Pascal Haber, MD, PhD, was selected as the new CEO of Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi.

7. Salem (Mo.) Memorial Hospital District made the following executive appointments: 

  • Brooke Bollman was named CEO.
  • Kayla Chamberlain was named CFO.

8. Oakland, Calif.-based Kaiser Permanente selected the following C-suite leaders to oversee business development and innovation:

  • Sam Glick will serve as executive vice president for enterprise strategy and business development.
  • Shelby Decosta was appointed chief business development officer.

9. West Reading, Pa.-based Tower Health promoted the following executives:

  • Kristin Kearney's role as CFO of Tower Health Medical Group was expanded to also include CFO of West Reading-based Reading Hospital.
  • Michael Stern was named president and will continue to serve as COO. 
  • Rob Ehinger was promoted to associate CFO.
  • Chuck Valentino was named vice president of revenue integrity and will continue his leadership in enterprise access services.

10. AdventHealth has made the following C-suite hires in Central Florida:

  • Jorge Hernández Pleitez was selected as CFO of AdventHealth for Children and AdventHealth for Women, as well as the vice president of finance for AdventHealth Orlando (Fla.).
  • Ike Ichite was selected as vice president of imaging services for AdventHealth's Central Florida Division. 
  • Kevin Poole was selected as COO of AdventHealth Apopka (Fla.).

11. Roseville, Calif.-based Adventist Health announced the following changes after adding hospitals to its system from Dallas-based Tenet Healthcare:  

  • Ryan Ashlock was named president of Adventist Health's Central Coast Service Area in California.
  • Eleze Armstrong was named operations executive of the Adventist Health Central Coast Service Area in addition to her current role as president of Adventist Health Twin Cities.
  • Kyle King has been appointed as president of Adventist Health's Oregon Service Area in addition to his current role as president of Adventist Health Portland.

12. Phoenix Children's announced the following appointments: 

  • Kelly Kelleher, MD, was named associate chief medical officer.
  • Liz Zorn, MD, was named associate chief medical officer.
  • Blake Bulloch, MD, was appointed chief medical officer.
  • Ashish Patel, MD, was named physician-in-chief.
