11 latest hospital, health system CEO moves

Becker's Hospital Review reported the following hospital and health system CEO moves in the last week.

They are listed below, in alphabetical order.

1. Poteau-based Eastern Oklahoma Medical Center named Bob Carter interim CEO.

2. McDonough District Hospital in Macomb, Ill., selected Brian Dietz to serve as interim CEO, effective June 22.

3. University of Rochester (N.Y.) Medicine's St. James Hospital in Hornell, N.Y., selected Bryan J. O'Donovan to serve as president and CEO, effective July 9.

4. Kelly Duke, CEO of Deming, N.M.-based Mimbres Memorial Hospital, abruptly resigned June 7.

5. UC Irvine Health selected Richard J. Gannotta to serve as its permanent CEO.

6. Northwest Health in Bentonville, Ark., named Denten Park CEO.

7. UnityPoint Health-Des Moines (Iowa) named David Stark president and CEO, effective July 1.

8. St. Louis-based Ascension selected Tom VanOsdol to serve as CEO of Pensacola, Fla.-based Sacred Heart Health System, in addition to his current role as CEO of Jacksonville, Fla.-based St. Vincent's HealthCare.

9. Mason City-based Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa President and CEO Dan Varnum is transitioning out of his role to take on a new job within Clive, Iowa-based Mercy Health Network, the medical center's parent.

10. Dignity Health-Glendale (Calif.) Memorial Hospital appointed Jill Welton president and CEO.

11. Joel Wernick, president and CEO of Albany, Ga.-based Phoebe Putney Health System, will retire in May 2019.
