When Beaumont Health System CEO Gene Michalski appointed Nick Vitale as CFO last June, he knew exactly the type of financial leader he was getting.
"As a seasoned financial executive with more than 30 years of experience in healthcare, Nick complements and continues the strength of our executive leadership team," Mr. Michalski said in a news release last year.
In the time since Mr. Vitale became CFO of Beaumont, the health system has maintained its solid financial standing within the healthcare community. At the end of fiscal year 2011, the health system recorded a positive 1.2 percent operating margin and an 11.7 percent operating EBITDA margin while maintaining its "A-" credit rating.
Mr. Vitale served in several other roles with the Beaumont Health System, including senior vice president of financial operations as well as CFO of Beaumont. Prior to Beaumont, he held senior financial positions at the Detroit-based Rehabilitation Institute of Michigan, and he also served as the CFO of Detroit Medical Center.
