Alice Pope's 12 years in various financial executive roles within Wellmont Health System — an eight-hospital system based in Kingston, Tenn., with total revenue of $797 million last year — paid off as she was recently promoted to CFO.
Ms. Pope, a certified public accountant, will now oversee the financial operations of the entire health system, which Fitch Ratings recently said has a leading inpatient market share in its primary service area and a high level of liquidity with 158.2 days cash on hand and a cushion ratio of 8.4x.
Previously, she was Wellmont's senior vice president of finance, managed care and revenue cycle, and from 2003 to 2008, Ms. Pope was also the CFO of Kingston, Tenn.-based Holston Valley Medical Center — the largest hospital within the Wellmont system. Before joining Wellmont, Ms. Pope was CFO of Baptist Memorial Health Care Corp.'s Mississippi market, and she also was an audit manager with accounting firm Arthur Andersen.
"Alice understands the values of our organization, is committed to its success and possesses the expertise and leadership skills that will ensure Wellmont is fiscally strong well into the future," Wellmont President and CEO Denny DeNarvaez said in a news release. "Her integrity and impressive leadership will also serve as excellent models as we further develop successful methods to protect and grow our financial resources."
