Dewey Rowlands brings more than three decades of healthcare finance experience to his role as CFO of Rome (N.Y.) Memorial Hospital.
Previously, Mr. Rowlands spent nearly 26 years with Oneida (N.Y.) Healthcare Center, serving as the hospital's controller before becoming CFO in 2011. He has also worked for Rochester, N.Y.-based health insurer Excellus BlueCross BlueShield. He earned his bachelor's degree from Utica (N.Y.) College.
Mr. Rowlands joined Rome Memorial in part because of his belief in the critical role of community hospitals. "Although smaller hospitals need to explore affiliation relationships with other organizations to enhance access to physicians and services, community hospitals will always serve a need even as the delivery system evolves over the next 10 years," Mr. Rowlands said in a news release.
