Cass Wisniewski, CFO and senior vice president of Hurley Medical Center in Flint, Mich., is a mainstay in the area's healthcare financial scene.
Prior to his last 11 years with Hurley, he spent 22 years working at Henry Ford Health System in Detroit, including nine years as CFO of the system's Cottage Hospital in Grosse Pointe Farms, Mich. He also teaches public health finance at two Michigan universities and was a member of the state's health insurance exchange planning committee.
Since he took on his CFO role at Hurley, Moody's assigned a rating of "Ba1" on $100 million of revenue bonds, citing improved operating performance over the first six months of fiscal year 2013 (5.9 percent adjusted operating cash flow margin compared with 3.7 percent in the first six months of FY 2012).
Thanks to the hospital's specialty burn and trauma centers, an estimated 40 percent of Hurley's patients come from outside Flint.
Mr. Wisniewski, a CPA, earned his bachelor's degree in accounting from Michigan State University and his MBA from the University of Detroit.
