Peggy Troy, RN, MSN, has served as president and CEO of Children's Hospital and Health System in Milwaukee since 2009.
Prior to joining Children's Hospital, Ms. Troy was the COO of Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare in Memphis, Tenn. She also served as CEO of Le Bonheur Children's Medical Center for three years and was a leader of Cook Children's Medical Center in Fort Worth, Texas.
Ms. Troy's connection with Children's Hospital goes past 2009 — she served as a nursing intern at the hospital while she attended Marquette University in Milwaukee.
In April 2011, Ms. Troy spoke in favor of changing incentives that reward hospitals and physicians for high volume rather than improving outcomes, showing her commitment to healthcare reform shortly before the PPACA was upheld by the Supreme Court in 2012.
In 2012, under the direction of Ms. Troy, Children's Hospital was awarded a $2.8 million grant from CMS Innovation to pilot a program designed to reduce healthcare costs and improve quality of care. "In our case, with the support of our partners, we intend to increase the use of primary care homes, reduce avoidable emergency room visits and reduce inpatient hospital admissions," Ms. Troy said in a press release.
Ms. Troy made Becker's Hospital Review's 2012 list of 300 hospital and health system leaders to know and the 2010 list of 52 hospital and healthcare leaders.
