Milwaukee Health System Executives Call for Change in Hospital, Physician Incentives

Peggy Troy, president and CEO of Children's Hospital and Health System in Milwaukee, Wis., and Susan Edward, president and CEO of ProHealth Care in Waukesha, Wis., both stressed the need to change incentives that currently reward hospitals and physicians for providing high volume rather than improving outcomes, according to a Journal Sentinel report.

Ms. Troy and Ms. Edward were part of a panel discussion on healthcare held at Marquette University. They spoke in support of upcoming provisions to set up pilot programs for ACOs, in which hospitals and physicians would work together to oversee care for a patient population and share in savings by improving efficiency.

Bob Connelly of the James Co. and Adam Lamnin, president and CEO of Assurant Health in Milwaukee, also sat on the panel.
