CEO Lars Houmann: A Leader for Florida Hospital and the Community

Lars Houmann is the president and CEO of Florida Hospital in Orlando and the Florida Division of Winter Park, Fla.-based Adventist Health System, which includes 22 hospitals throughout the state.

Houmann LarsMr. Houmann has been with Florida Hospital since 1993 and has served as its CEO since 2006. He held a number of positions at the hospital before becoming CEO, including serving as COO and executive vice president.

During his time at Florida Hospital, Mr. Houmann has been a part of many changes and improvements. Most recently, Mr. Houmann oversaw Adventist Health System's merger with University Community Healthcare in Tampa, Fla., which added four new hospitals to the Florida Division of Adventist Health System.

Mr. Houmann is extremely involved in the community. He volunteers with several organizations, including Heart of Florida United Way, American Heart Association, Shepherd's Hope Clinics and the Seventh-day Adventist Church. He has also participated in healthcare mission projects in South America and Africa. In recognition of his involvement in the community, Mr. Houmann won the Adventist Health System Crystal Angel Award for mission excellence in 2009.

He also won the 2009 and 2010 Orlando Business Journal Central Florida's Most Influential Businessmen (Health Care) award. The award is given to businessmen that show excellence in their field and dedication to the local community, according to the Orlando Business Journal website.
