Hugh Greene serves as president and CEO of Baptist Health, a five-hospital comprehensive health system based in Jacksonville, Fla.
With Mr. Greene at the helm, Baptist Health has achieved great success. Baptist is Magnet-recognized for excellence in nursing and was named one of America's Best Regional Hospitals by U.S. News & World Report in 2011, to name just two of the accolades the system has garnered under Mr. Greene.
Mr. Greene has received several recognitions for his leadership prowess. In 2007, the Jacksonville Business Journal named him one of 12 Ultimate CEOs in the area and was inducted in the First Coast Business Hall of Fame. More recently, this year he received the Distinguished Business Leader Award from the University of North Florida's Coggin College of Business.
Outside of leading Baptist Health, Mr. Greene has held various leadership positions in organizations and community groups. For instance, he has served as vice-chair of the board of trustees for the University of North Florida and as chair of the Jacksonville Chamber of Commerce. He was also on the corporate board of PSS World Medical prior to its sale to McKesson.
Mr. Greene earned a master's degree in health administration from the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond and a master's degree of divinity from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Ky. He is a fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives.
