CEO Dr. Robert Laskowski: Providing More Than Charity Care to Delaware Community

Robert Laskowski, MD, MBA, has been president and CEO of Christiana Care Health System based in Wilmington, Del., and Newark, Del., since April 2003.

Robert Laskowski leads Christiana Care as CEOAs president and CEO, Dr. Laskowski has not only led Christiana Care in embracing innovative programs to transform care and give great value to patients, but also in offering services to benefit the northern Delaware community in general. He has been a strong advocate for Project SEARCH, a nationally recognized program dedicated to training individuals with disabilities to obtain job skills necessary to secure competitive employment. Christiana Care is the inaugural employer in Delaware to host Project SEARCH.

In addition, Dr. Laskowski has led Christiana Care to provide roughly $27.1 million in charity care during the fiscal year 2011.

His Delaware-area and healthcare commitment are evident in his many service roles. In addition to his role as CEO, Dr. Laskowski serves as a professor of clinical medicine at Jefferson Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia. He serves on the Council of Teaching Hospitals and Health Systems Administrative Board, and is a COTH representative to the Association of American Medical Colleges Assembly. Dr. Laskowski also serves on the Health Management Academy Chief Executive Officers Forum and the American Medical Association Section on Medical Schools. He has been appointed to a three-year term to the Economic Advisory Council of the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia.

Before joining Christiana Care, he was CMO for Lehigh Valley Health Network in Allentown, Pa.
