Paul Kronenberg, MD, has served as the president and CEO of Crouse Hospital in Syracuse, N.Y., since 2004. Before he became CEO, Dr. Kronenberg served as the CMO at Crouse for 20 years.
Dr. Kronenberg is a board-certified internist and received his medical degree from SUNY Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse, N.Y.
Every year that Dr. Kronenberg has been CEO of Crouse Hospital, the hospital has beaten budget targets. In 2006, Crouse Hospital was named "Business of the Year" by the Greater Syracuse Chamber of Commerce.
Under Dr. Kronenberg's direction, Crouse received the 2008 Optimas Award for General Excellence from Workforce Management magazine, the nation's leading human resources industry publication. Crouse is the first and only U.S. hospital to earn this award.
Dr. Kronenberg has also won awards himself. In 2009, he received the Post-Standard's Achievement Award for reviving the hospital after it emerged from Chapter 11 bankruptcy. He also made Becker's Hospital Review's list of 100 physician leaders of hospitals and health systems.
