David Pate, MD, JD, is president and CEO of St. Luke's Health System in Boise, Idaho.
As president and CEO, Dr. Pate oversees three full-service community hospitals, three critical access hospitals, Idaho's only children's hospital, clinics and outpatient treatment and diagnostic centers. St. Luke's is Idaho's largest and only locally controlled health system. It is also home to Mountain States Tumor Institute, a National Cancer Institute-designated community cancer center. Dr. Pate works to transform St. Luke's into an integrated healthcare delivery system that includes service partnerships and relationships with other healthcare organizations. He is also integral to ensuring the financial foundation that supports the visionary development of St. Luke's Health System. Dr. Pate joined St. Luke's Health System in 2009, following executive positions with St. Luke's Episcopal Health System in Houston . He received his medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston and his law degree cum laude from the University of Houston Law Center. Dr. Pate completed his residency training at Baylor College of Medicine and is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He is a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executive and a fellow of the American College of Physicians. Dr. Pate is also an author, teacher, lecturer, community volunteer and active member of community professional boards and committees.
