Allen Weiss, MD, was appointed president and CEO of NCH Healthcare System, a 715-bed, two-hospital integrated healthcare system in Naples, Fla., in September 2006. Dr. Weiss' main interest lies in developing the three core competencies of the NCH Healthcare System — demonstrated quality, operational efficiency and fiscal responsibility. His goals are demonstrated in the awards and recognition NCH Healthcare has received under his tenure.
HealthGrades has ranked NCH Healthcare in the top 5 percent for quality and safety for six years. It was named number one in Florida for cardiology and cardiac care twice, and in 2012, U.S. News & World Report named NCH Healthcare's hospitals as top regional hospitals in South Florida.
"We have only one goal at NCH Healthcare System — to provide the highest quality clinical care and service to our patients. As a practicing physician for 23 years, I know how important realizing that objective is to our patients, their families and our community. That goal requires that we demonstrate the highest level of medical expertise, operational efficiency and fiscal responsibility. We are proud that our performance in these areas has made NCH not only a medical destination for total joint replacements, open heart surgery and other elective procedures, but an important pillar in our community," says Dr. Weiss.
Dr. Weiss received his medical degree from Columbia University's College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York City. He led a solo practice in rheumatology, internal medicine and geriatrics for 23 years. Dr. Weiss is a fellow of the American College of Physicians and a fellow of the American College of Rheumatology.
In July 2005, Dr. Weiss was asked to express his views on the use of information technology in healthcare with the U.S. Congress Ways and Means Committee-Health Subsection. Three years later, he received a Distinguished Executive of the Year award from the Women's Bar Association of Florida. In 2010, Gulfshore Life recognized him as one of its Men & Women of the Year.
