Barbara Doyle serves as CEO of Inova Mount Vernon Hospital in Alexandria, Va., and as senior vice president of Falls Church, Va.-based Inova Health System.
Ms. Doyle has more than 25 years of healthcare experience. Before taking the helm at Inova Mount Vernon, Ms. Doyle served as vice president of patient care and ambulatory services at Winchester (Mass.) Hospital. She also served as CNO of there. While at Winchester Hospital, Ms. Doyle helped the organization achieve Magnet status for excellence in nursing.
During her time leading Inova Mount Vernon, Ms. Doyle has overseen a $30 million expansion and renovation plan. This year, Ms. Doyle helped the hospital earn the designation of being a NICHE hospital, or Nurses Improving Care for Health System Elders. "Through NICHE, the Inova Mount Vernon Hospital clinicians and staff engage in ongoing training and are able to share information, knowledge and expertise with other NICHE hospitals. With this designation, our patients can rest assured that they are receiving the best possible quality care with the most up-to-date treatment options," Ms. Doyle said in a news release.
While Ms. Doyle has helped her hospital achieve recognition, she herself has also been recognized for her work at Inova Mount Vernon Hospital. This year, she was named Citizen of the Year by the Mount Vernon-Lee Chamber of Commerce for the work she has done at the hospital.
Outside her commitment to leading Inova Mount Vernon, Ms. Doyle is a member of the American Organization of Nurse Executives and the American Nurses Association. She also has served on the board of directors for the Mont Vernon-Lee Chamber of Commerce.
Ms. Doyle holds a degree in nursing and a master's degree in health administration.
