In a recent press release, Zotec Partners (Zotec), an industry leader in revenue cycle and practice management services for hospital-based physician groups and health systems, announced it has achieved SOC-2 Security certification.
The SOC-2 certification is established by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) in accordance with the SSAE 16 professional standards, and it focuses on a business's controls related to the security, availability, integrity, confidentiality, and privacy of information and systems.
According to Ned Campbell, Zotec's chief compliance officer, the SOC-2 certification is designed to give company's clients and stakeholders insight and assurances into the security controls of a service organization, noting, "Our clients have a need and a right to know how closely we manage their data and our information security environment, with strict monitoring and control processes in place to minimize the threat of cybersecurity." He adds, "The SOC-2 certification is one more way to inspect the security safeguards of our organization and put our clients at ease in a high-risk environment where security threats are always looming. By obtaining the SOC-2 certification, we are able to ensure our internal processes and security policies and practices are always maintained at the highest levels."
Founder and CEO of Zotec, T. Scott Law says that cybersecurity is one of the biggest concerns for healthcare businesses today. "In this industry, you cannot let your guard down. Zotec is certified in the highest levels of organizational security and privacy because our physician clients and their patients are always at very high risk."
