New Haven, Conn.-based Yale School of Public Health will launch a health informatics division focused on enhancing EHR accuracy through artificial intelligence and machine learning technologies, Yale Daily News reports.
The division, which will introduce a master's track in health informatics, will aim to help faculty members and students combine data science and clinical medicine to support patient outcomes.
Cynthia Brandt, MD, a professor of emergency medicine at Yale School of Medicine and director of the Yale Center for Medical Informatics, will serve as director of the new division.
"This division will prepare much needed specialists to work with clinical and public health groups to deal with their growing and unique data challenges," Dr. Brandt said in a news release. "The need is great, and I am thrilled that the Yale School of Public Health is taking the lead in this crucial field."
The new academic track will be housed under the Yale School of Public Health's biostatistics department and will begin enrolling students this fall.
