The White House has released to Congress a proposal for cybersecurity legislation that aims to improve the security of U.S. infrastructure and federal networks and computers, according to a news release from the Office of the Press Secretary.
The White House has acknowledged that cybersecurity vulnerabilities in government and critical infrastructure are a risk to national security, public safety and economic prosperity. Its proposed legislation includes national data breach reporting, penalties for computer criminals, infrastructure cybersecurity plans, data centers and intrusion prevention systems, among other proposals.
