Forbes named one health system IT chief to its CIO Next List for 2023.
Myra Davis, chief information innovation officer of Houston-based Texas Children's Hospital, was one of 10 healthcare IT executives who made the list but the only one from a hospital or health system.
The third annual list spotlights 50 "technology leaders who are shaping the next wave of business," according to the news outlet, which received hundreds of nominations and applications.
Ms. Davis added "innovation" to her title in 2019 and now leads 500 IT workers and biomedical engineers, the March 29 story noted. She got the honor for creating an online scheduling system, boosting cybersecurity at Texas Children's and developing the health system's Innovation Hub for new tech ideas.
"The CIO is a conventional run-and-maintain role and the innovation officer gets to do all the sexy [projects] and then they toss [these] over to the CIO … with no budget and typically no resources to support them," Ms. Davis told Forbes in 2020.
