These days, one in five people are using mobile technology to improve their wellbeing, according to a survey from Gallup. Among the public, 19 percent of people have downloaded and routinely use a health app. Twenty-three percent of full-time workers do the same.
So, what are health app users doing with their apps? The top apps in use, ranked by the percentage of the American public that uses them on a regular basis according to the Gallup survey, are as follows:
Healthy recipes: 8 percent
Calorie tracking: 6 percent
Food and exercise diaries: 5 percent
Running maps: 4 percent
Using bar codes to determine the nutritional content of food: 4 percent
Healthy restaurant menu options: 4 percent
Personal training: 3 percent
Water intake: 3 percent
Finding locally produced food: 2 percent
Yoga training: 1 percent
Food additives: 1 percent
