WebMD announced on Aug. 12 the acquisition of QxMD, a Vancouver-based provider of digital medical calculators and other mobile decision-making tools for clinicians.
Though QxMD will operate as an independent subsidiary of WebMD, its digital solutions will be combined with those of Medscape, another WebMD offshoot that offers a continuing medical education platform and other professional development resources for physicians. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Combined, the QxMD and Medscape platforms will be able to provide digital, personalized point-of-care solutions to and thus improve the decision-making abilities of more than 4 million physicians around the world, according to Jeremy Schneider, senior vice president and group general manager of WebMD Global.
