Washington state selects Cerner EHR for ICD-10 compliance

The Washington state Department of Social and Health Services has selected Cerner's EHR to digitize its records in preparation for the ICD-10 deadline.

The agreement will digitize DSHS' records and implement computerized physician order entries to improve patient safety. Cerner's system will also modernize the department's revenue cycle software, according to a news release.

The revenue cycle software will be implemented at three accredited psychiatric hospitals, including WesternStateHospital in Lakewood, Wash., EasternStateHospital in Medical Lake, Wash., and Child Studies and TreatmentCenter in Lakewood, Wash., according to the news release.

"One of DSHS' objectives in replacing their existing systems is to support their transition to ICD-10 compliance by Oct. 1," said Justin Dickey, consulting practice director for Cerner. "Cerner will work with DSHS to tailor solutions to meet their needs. This agreement advances behavioral health and care for the State of Washington and its residents."
