Deerfield, Ill.-based Walgreens has joined forces with Chicago-based healthcare incubator Matter to launch a new partnership focused on innovation.
Matter is a group of more than 150 health IT startups working to improve healthcare through technology initiatives.
Through the partnership, Walgreens will assist Matter's entrepreneurs and innovators by participating in mentorship programs and providing expertise to Matter's curriculum. Walgreens will also assist Matter in its efforts regarding the Health Care Council of Chicago (HC3). HC3 was cofounded by Matter and Salt Lake City-based Leavitt Partners.
"Walgreens has been a retail pharmacy pioneer for more than a century," said Matter CEO Steven Collens. "The opportunities, insights and perspectives that Walgreens provides will prove invaluable to the innovators at Matter and to the Health Care Council of Chicago."
