Wage lawsuit against Epic tossed by judge & 8 other health IT notes

Nine health information technology notes:

1. Google announced plans March 26 to launch a global advisory council to focus on ethical issues introduced by artificial intelligence and other emerging technologies.

2. United Parcel Service is using drones to transport medical supplies to Raleigh, N.C.-based WakeMed Health and Hospitals.

3. A federal judge dismissed a lawsuit March 25 against Epic brought by employees who claimed the software company illegally denied them overtime pay.

4. Google has been accused of selling advertisements to companies that offer unapproved dementia and Alzheimer's treatments.

5. Startup CoverUS has developed a blockchain-supported platform that allows patients to sell their medical information to providers.

6. Microsoft Healthcare is teaming up with Spiral Genetics, a DNA analysis startup, to identify correlations between the human genome and heart disease characteristics.

7. Snap, parent company of photo-sharing social media app Snapchat, is working to persuade pharmaceutical companies to advertise products targeted for younger audiences on its platform.

8. A slew of Facebook employees had access to as many as 600 million user passwords, dating back to 2012.

9. United Parcel Service is preparing to dispatch nurses to vaccinate adults in their homes.
