Vermont Health Connect fixed and ready for enrollment

Vermont's state health insurance exchange is ready for its open-enrollment period, which will begin Nov. 15, according to a report from the Burlington Free Press.

Vermont Health Connect, the marketplace, had serious problems during the first enrollment period last year. It ended up hiring a new contractor to oversee the site. In addition, the site was taken down in September due to security problems.

While most of the issues have been fixed, the exchange still won't be ready this year for small businesses to buy health insurance. Because of problems with the site earlier this year, any business with fewer than 50 employees planning to purchase insurance through the exchange will instead have to deal directly with insurance carriers, according to the report.
