The Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking a commercial vendor to build a new patient scheduling system for the department.
The VA calls its current system — Veterans Health Information Systems and Technical Architecture Scheduling — outdated and emphasized the need for modernization across the enterprise. "VHA's current scheduling processes do not meet the needs of patients, providers or the VHA scheduling staff," reads the agency's solicitation. "Modernization of the system across the enterprise is required in order to meet patient scheduling needs of today's VHA."
The project could cost up to $690 million over seven years, according to Federal News Radio.
The agency issued requests for proposals last week. Project bids are due Jan. 9.
