Utah lawmakers have agreed to spend $1 million to extend credit monitoring for a second year to victims of a Utah Department of Health data breach that occurred last March, according to a Salt Lake Tribune report.
Nearly 182,000 individuals were affected when their personal information was removed from one of the Department of Health's servers.
The Utah Department of Health has also been given $300,000 by the state to hire new IT staff to develop and enforce new data security protocols, according to the report.
