The U.S. Postal Service has notified approximately 485,000 employees, former employees and retirees who filed for workers' compensation that their health information may have been compromised and accessed by network intruders, according to a Nextgov.com report.
In September, hackers accessed the Social Security numbers of approximately 800,000 USPS employees. Information regarding personal health data being compromised is newly coming out, according to the report.
Potentially compromised health information includes injury diagnoses, procedure codes, location of bodily harm and billing codes for medical, surgical and diagnostic services, according to the report.
The USPS has not indicated any evidence that the breached data has been inappropriately used, according to the report.
