US Coast Guard goes live with InterSystems' interoperability platform

The U.S. Coast Guard has been transitioning from its legacy technology to Epic's EHR since 2012, according to a MedCity News report.

Last year, the Coast Guard signed a contract with InterSystems for the company's analytics and integration platform HealthShare. HealthShare, now live, will help connect the Coast Guards' legacy technology to its Epic EHR, according to the report.

The Coast Guard is a part of the Department of Homeland Security, not the Department of Defense. Thus, the Coast Guard will not be a part of the DOD's $4.3 billion contract with Cerner, Leidos and Accenture, according to the report.

InterSystems' HealthShare will help provide interoperability between the Coast Guard and outside sources such as the DOD and private healthcare providers, according to the report.
