Kansas City-based University of Kansas Health System is partnering with Olathe, Kan.-based Redivus Health to pilot the health IT company's technology in rural Kansas hospitals, according to a Startland report.
Redivus Health developed a mobile app that offers standardized, step-by-step protocols for care. It is designed for use in heart attack, stroke and sepsis cases. The University of Kansas Health System will deploy the technology in hospitals that are a part of its Kansas Heart and Stroke Collaborative program.
Redivus Health, founded in 2012 by a group of physicians, aims to provide enhanced critical care solutions. The app has been tested in the field, the report notes.
"For rural hospitals that see fewer strokes, we expect this tool to provide both education and time-sensitive guidance to follow the stroke treatment steps," said Marilyn Rymer, MD, neurologist at the health system, according to the report. "When every minute counts for the stroke patients, we hope to improve the confidence in making critical decisions."
