University Hospitals, GE HealthCare partner

Cleveland-based University Hospitals entered into a 10-year partnership with GE HealthCare to implement new technologies across its radiology practice and at its UH Harrington Heart & Vascular Institute.

Under the partnership, GE HealthCare will provide AI- and machine learning-enabled technology to enhance imaging quality and to speed up scan times, according to an Oct. 5 news release from GE.

These tools aim to provide healthcare professionals with improved diagnostic capabilities, operational efficiency and consistency.

Standardization and automated protocols will also be implemented across CT devices, with the aim of enhancing workflow, increasing utilization and reducing downtime associated with fleet management.

Additionally, ongoing education and training programs will be provided to technologists, students and physicians to ensure they meet the evolving needs of clinicians.

A digital command center solution will be implemented under the partnership as well, which will provide insights and technology support to UH's radiology department.

The center aims to improve scheduling, authentication and inpatient coordination; reduce downtime due to maintenance; and decrease the number of excess hospitalization days related to radiology procedures.
