UMass Memorial Health Care, based in Worcester, Mass., is the midst of an Epic EHR implementation, set to go live July 1, 2017, according to a telegram.com report.
The project is projected to cost between $650 million and $700 million over 10 years. The price tag includes hardware, software and labor. The implementation is being led by CIO Tim Tarnowski.
Prior to Epic, UMass Memorial used a patchwork of several different IT systems. In 2008, the health system began to integrate its software systems, including a Cerner system, according to the report.
The UMass memorial plans to commit three of its hospitals to the July 1, 2017 go-live date. Epic will go live at its other hospitals at a later date, according to the report.
