Uber Health to provide medical transportation services for injured workers

Uber Health partnered with Carisk, a specialty risk care coordination company, to offer injured workers transportation to and from medical appointments.

With a web-based and mobile dashboard for patient scheduling needs, Uber Health can send text messages to the user regarding information such as trip details, booking confirmation, location and time of arrival.

"Getting to and from medical appointments can be stressful and expensive, with transportation delays posing a barrier to care that can compromise patient outcomes and impose higher healthcare costs," said Alana Letourneau, MD, senior vice president of clinical strategy at Carisk. "This relationship helps to resolve these issues by offering a level of convenience, comfort and reduced stress for not only the injured worker, but also claims staff who are tasked to reschedule missed appointments or make alternate transportation arrangements."

Carisk serves insurers, government entities, self-insured plans and other managed care organizations.
