Tesla is continuing its rounds of mass firings, this time affecting employees at its SolarCity offices, reports CNBC.
Earlier this month, the company, famous for manufacturing its luxury electric vehicles, fired nearly 400 employees after conducting a companywide review. It cited poor performance as reason for the lay offs, although some employees said they had never received a bad review.
The SolarCity employees say they were surprised by the dismissals, which were also supposedly due to performance despite lack of formal reviews, according to CNBC.
The total number of employees fired from Tesla, including its SolarCity division, could not be determined, but former employees estimate the number to be around 1,200, CNBC reports.
Tesla had previously announced plans to lay off 205 SolarCity employees at its Roseville, Calif., office by the end of this month; however, SolarCity employees from locations across the country have been fired in the last two weeks.
