Palo Alto, Calif.-based Tesla, the American automaker famous for its luxury electric vehicles, fired nearly 400 employees last week after its companywide annual review, a former employee told Reuters.
The employees' positions ranged from associates to team leaders to supervisors, the former employee, who worked on the assembly line and did not want to be named, said. According to Tesla, performance was the reason for the firings, but the source said he was fired despite never receiving a bad review.
Tesla did not confirm how many employees it had dismissed.
