Technical Glitches in Several States' PPACA Exchanges

Several states are experiencing technical glitches in their state insurance exchanges, set to open Oct. 1.

Exchanges in Oregon, Nevada and Maryland will open on time, but with some missing certain website features, including Spanish-language alternatives and tax credit calculations, reports The New York Times. In Colorado, customers will have to call a customer service center to finalize the enrollment process begun online, according to CNN. And a high error rate during testing in the Washington, D.C., exchange means Medicaid eligibility and subsidy calculations will not be ready when the exchange opens.

In a Reuters report, an HHS spokesperson said the glitches do not mean the exchanges will not open on time: "There will be a marketplace open in every state and D.C. on October 1, where families can comparison shop for quality, affordable health coverage."
