Augmedix, a Google Glass startup, has closed a $17 million funding round led by five major healthcare systems, including Sacramento, Calif.-based Sutter Health, San Francisco-based Dignity Health, Englewood, Colo.-based Catholic Health Initiatives, Cincinnati-based TriHealth and one more unnamed organization.
Augmedix leverages Google Glass to boost efficiency and enhance the patient-provider relationship. Providers wear Google Glass while visiting with a patient, and Augmedix cenables providers to retrieve the patient's information without requiring a computer.
The latest funding round will help Augmedix scale its service nationwide.
"The use of Google Glass and Augmedix allows our doctors to spend more time with patients by eliminating the distraction of entering information into a patient's electronic medical record on the computer," said Davin Lundquist, MD, CMIO of Dignity Health. "This enables our healthcare providers to give more focused attention to our patients and results in a better patient experience."
