Surescripts CEO Harry Totonis has announced his resignation, effective March 2014.
Mr. Totonis has served as the head of the nation's largest clinical health information network since 2008. He oversaw a period of significant growth at Surescripts, which now connects more than 500,000 prescribers, 94 percent of community pharmacies, electronic health record vendors and many of the nation's hospitals.
"Surescripts, under Harry’s leadership, has realized pharmacy's e-prescribing vision to enable pharmacy and providers in producing optimal outcomes and reducing healthcare costs. Harry has also built a team and infrastructure to ensure the company's continued success and growth, as it evolves to meet the changing needs of a dynamic healthcare environment," said Douglas Hoey, co-chairman of Surescripts' board of directors, in a news release.
An executive search firm has been hired to find Mr. Totonis' replacement.
