Health innovation company StartUp Health and GE Ventures are expanding their partnership to invest in and coach digital health startups focused on developing solutions on health payments and virtual health platforms.
The two companies' first partnership produced The GE and StartUp Health Entrepreneurship Program, which launched in 2013 and worked with 15 consumer digital health companies.
Additionally, the companies plan to announce new innovation themes throughout the year, and will help develop at least 10 companies, some of which will be invited to join the StartUp Health Academy for three years and receive an initial $50,000 investment to continue developing.
"What started as an experiment with StartUp Health almost three years ago to support early-stage consumer health companies has blossomed into an important new model for developing and investing in health innovation," said Sue Siegel, CEO of GE Ventures.
