Stanford (Calif.) Health Care released a new mobile app, MyHealth that syncs with Apple's HealthKit and Epic's EMR system.
Developed by the system's engineers, the app collects data from consumer wearable medical devices, such as FitBit, according to Venture Beat. Patients can use the app to see their test results, medical bills, prescriptions and to schedule appointments and conduct video visits with Stanford physicians. It is also connected to Stanford Health Care's telemedicine service, ClickWell.
The physicians can also access patient data collected by the app directly from Epic's EMR without asking the patient to visit the clinic, which may aid in chronic condition management, according to the report. Stanford Health Care physicians can also use a secure messaging system through the app to communicate with patients.
"We believe this is the future of how care will be delivered for many types of chronic conditions," said SHC CIO Pravene Nath, MD, in a statement.
