St. Louis signs prescription drug monitoring program bill, separating from rest of state

Missouri is the only state in the country without a prescription drug monitoring program, but cities are taking matters into their own hands and enacting such programs within their city limits. St. Louis is the latest city to do so, reports a St. Louis-based Fox affiliate.

Mayor Francis Slay signed a bill Tuesday to establish a citywide prescription drug monitoring program to track the purchase of prescription drugs.

City and county officials will being developing the online tracking system, which they hope to have running by the end of the year, according to the report.
