Cincinnati-based St. Elizabeth Physicians has started offering consultations with primary care physicians through an online forum, according to a Cincinnati Business Courier report.
Patients answer questions regarding their symptoms online through MyChart, and a primary care physician reviews the answers. The physician then responds with a diagnosis and treatment plan, according to the report.
The 317 physician group launched the services last week for "common health problems" including coughs, sinus pains, urinary tract discomfort and pink eye. Patients are charged $35 per consultation, but the fee can be waived if the physician deems an in-person consultation is needed, according to the report.
St. Elizabeth Physicians CEO Glenn Loomis, MD, said in the report they plan to expand to video telemedicine services later this year, according to the report.
