South Carolina Among State Leaders Connecting Physicians' EHR Systems

South Carolina, along with Massachusetts, is one of the leading states to recruit physicians in a statewide effort to connect their electronic health record systems, making the states eligible for incentive payments under HHS' meaningful use program, according to a news report by The State.

A Health Sciences South Carolina collaborative achieved high physician practice participation in connecting EHRs by helping the first 1,000 primary care physicians set up their systems for free, according to the news report. This means 20 percent of the state's primary care providers are currently sharing electronic records.
