Smartlink raises $2.5M for mhealth app

Cary, N.C.-based Smartlink Mobile Systems raised $2.5 million to build, market and launch its mobile health app for physician-patient communication, according to Triangle Business Journal.

Physician practices pay a subscription to offer the app to patients, who can download it for free. Patients will be able to receive notifications for checkups, make appointments and text their clinic, according to the report.

Practices that get 20 percent of patients to use the app can save 25 hours of work per administrative staffer per month, according to Smartlink data in the report.
